The Akerman Projects are a series of works centring on the films of Chantal Akerman. Some works are clean and finished, others are rough and crude prototypes. The projects revolve around questions of following, influence, adaptation, and repetition.
1. RENDEZVOUS
Rendezvous is a stage adaptation of Akerman’s Les rendez-vous d’Anna. The play is both an English translation and an adaptation to a Canadian context. It tells the story about a filmmaking moving westward from Halifax to Toronto, and ultimately falling through the cracks of time to 1978. The play received its first reading in 2014 at DaPoPo’s Live-in Reading Series in Halifax.
